Aviation School an Intense Training Ground for Aspiring Pilots
April 26th, 2009
When we travel to distant locations, most of us prefer flying to ground transportation because it’s so much faster and more convenient and, truth be told, much safer. A few of us even wish that we could actually do the flying ourselves, meaning serve as the pilot of the aircraft we are riding in. Only a small percentage of those people ever take the steps necessary to become a licensed pilot, and among those who do learn to fly, most only learn to operate very small planes that hold just four passengers or so.
It could be the cost of aviation training that holds us many of us back, or it could be that we need encouragement from family and friends to follow our dream of soaring thousands of feet above the ground in a motorized aircraft. There are still quite a few people, however, who take the initiative and contact an aviation school.
So, the question now becomes: where should Denver residents go to learn to be a pilot? There are several aviation schools in the Denver area, but Daedalus Aviation is a fine place to start. Daedalus not only bills themselves as Denver’s “premier flight school and airline training academy,” but they advertise that in just six months you can earn your Private, Instrument, Commercial and Certified Flight Instructor certificates.
Keep in mind that aviation training is not cheap, and Daedalus charges nearly $4,700 for 28 hours of flight training in their part 61 school, but when you add in ground training and solo flight the total cost soars over $6,500. Therefore, this is not something that can be done on a whim or just to see if you might like it. If you aren’t serious about becoming a pilot, then aviation training is something you should steer clear of.
Becoming licensed to fly an aircraft can lead to a wonderfully rewarding career, but it’s an extremely intense activity that takes 100 percent dedication to pull off successfully.
