Fraudulent Poker Cards

January 9th, 2009

Now you’ll never see me or anyone here at Everest Poker condoning cheating in online poker, but sometimes a good scam is just too funny not to talk about. This one is one of them.

Three men in South Korea were charged with fraudulent practice because they manufactured marked poker playing cards. On the surface these cards looked just like any other deck, but they had a secondary operation.

They were manufacturing contact lenses that allowed the wearers to see the markings on the cards, which in turn allowed, well obviously, a tremendous advantage to the wearer.

It kind of makes you think about all the poker players we see these days wearing shades and hats and all sorts of other miscellany to protect themselves from giving away their tells when the player across the table can see huge fluorescent letters on his cards letting him know exactly what’s in his hand.

But it doesn’t end there. As sad as one has to be to scam people at a game they’re probably not that good at without a crutch, one of the menand this is totally true as corroborated by the UK Mirrorwas in fact arrested and jailed for selling pills. Not narcotic pills, but pills that promised Eternal Youth.

Yeah, sometimes these things just need to be heard so the rest of us can sit back and laugh.
