Golf Tourism in Turkey
June 18th, 2008
When Europeans are considering buying a summer house or an investment property in the Med, the majority of them used to think of Greece, Spain or Italy. But now Turkey, with its outstanding nature and quick access to historical places like the House of Virgin Mary, Artemis Temple and Ephesus is quickly making a name for itself as a new hot destination.
Istanbul, sitting on two continents, Europe and Asia, have attracted many expats from all over the world over the past years. However, Istanbul being a metropolitan with a population of over 12 million people is quite different from the other cities in Turkey. The coastal cities in the Med have attracted many foreigners that have decided to reside either year long or spend only the summer in Turkey. This includes many people from various countries in Europe, some retired and some working class residents. The real estate industry in Turkey has shown quick developments and is somewhat compared to what the market in Spain used to be like. Many new projects are being developed to serve the needs of the buyers from different countries and with different tastes. For example, golf related property industry has shown considerable success with over 16 courses in Belek within minutes to each other and many others in Mugla being developed. It is possible to find different types of off-plan golf villas for sale in different cities in Turkey.
There are many projects, mostly developed in close proximity to these courses and some recent ones with in-house courses that have attracted attention. Turkey is likely to follow Spain in this line as well and secure a considerable amount of visitors interested in golf tourism in the upcoming decade.
